Sclerotherapy
A non-surgical procedure by injection sclerosant (STS) into the problematic small vein
What is sclerotherapy?
Non-surgical treatment of varicose veins!
It is a method of treating varicose veins by injecting a special drug, sclerosing solution, into the varicose veins and compressing the vein for a certain period of time to harden veins. Sclerotherapy depends on which veins are in trouble. In other words, even if it looks minor, it should be treated surgically if there is an abnormality in the saphenous vein. If the saphenous vein is fine even though it seems severe in appearance, sclerotherapy can be used.
Any abnormalities in the saphenous vein/perforating vein should be verified through the vascular ultrasound.

Procedure
-
01
Use vascular ultrasound to check whether the saphenous vein/perforating vein is abnormal.
-
02
A sclerosing solution is injected into the problematic blood vessels. The number of procedures depends on the individual's condition.
-
03
After injecting the sclerosing solution, the inner wall of the blood vessel is adhered, resulting in making the blood vessels hard and blocking blood flow.

SCLEROTHERAPY
At Charm Vascular Clinic?
What is important in the treatment of varicose veins is not the appearance but the vascular ultrasound.
Although it may seem severe, sclerotherapy could be used if reflux or enlargement is not significant in the vascular sonographic findings. On the contrary, if there is a reflux in the root vein even if it is a small vein, it is difficult to treat completely only with sclerotherapy, and as a result, recurrence can not be prevented. Therefore, if there is a backward flow in the root vein, it is effective to perform surgery and sclerotherapy at the same time. Charm Vascular Clinic uses BD needles and Loss of Resistance syringes. We try to make it painless and precise, even for a single shot.
Precautions after treatment
-
01
Walk about 30 minutes after treatment.
-
02
There may be temporary nausea, coughs, dizziness, etc.
-
03
shrunken blood vessels are gradually absorbed and disappear over time.
-
04
It is advisable to wear compression stockings for about a week.
-
05
Brown pigmentation at the injection site may occur. Most of this disappears within 2-3 months, but some rarely take over 6 months to disappear.
