VenaSeal
Cyanoacrylate Closure (CAC)
A treatment for closing a blood vessel in which a medical adhesive is injected into the problematic vessel
What is VenaSeal?
3rd generation treatment for varicose veins
VenaSeal is a treatment that uses a substance called cyanoacrylate,
which was used to block the blood vessels in the past when cerebral hemorrhage or long-term bleeding occurs, to close up the expanded venous blood vessels with reflux.
The catheter is inserted into the blood vessel where the reflux occurs and placed where it is needed.
the adhesive is placed at intervals of 1 cm or 3 cm to close the vessel.
The greatest advantage is that VenaSeal has no heat damage and is not stripping blood vessels out like an incision method (stripping). Also, there is no physical damage unlike conventional laser surgery and radiofrequency surgery, which require constant tumescent anesthesia and cause inevitablepain due to heat of 120°C (radio frequency) or 1,000°C (laser).
Therefore, post-operative pain is significantly less than conventional methods.
-
Operation time
30 minutes ~2 hour
-
anesthetic method
local anesthesia,
sedation -
recovery period
You can go home on the day of operation,
and return to light daily activities within 1–2 days. -
side effects
Pain and bruising,
which gradually subside over 2–3 weeks.
Procedure
-
01
Under local anesthesia, the catheter is inserted into the problematic vein while monitoring real-time ultrasound images.
-
02
The adhesive is inserted and the skin surface of the area is pressed to seal the blood vessels.
-
03
The heat of 120°C is transmitted at 360° inducing heat damage and fibrosis of the blood vessel to close the blood vessel with the reflux

At Charm Vascular Clinic ?
Charm Vascular Clinic is the first medical center in Korea to
perform VenaSeal. and so far, Dr. Insoo Park has the most
experience in VenaSeal in Korea.
He is the first in Korea and the second in Asia to publish
VenaSeal research results in the international SCI journals.
He is also a veteran of VenaSeal who has presented
his experience of VenaSeal and know-how in various
academic societies. Surgery is carried out under completely
painless conditions through the anesthesiology.
VenaSeal surgery
1,050 veins
Charm Vascular Clinic is the first clinic in Korea
to perform VenaSeal and has the most experience in VenaSeal surgery, as of March 2025.
Advantages of VenaSeal
-
Less physical damage
Does not remove blood vessels which reduces normal tissue damage during surgery dramatically
-
Less physical damage
Compared to other treatments, post-operative pain is the minimal and recovery is the fastest.
-
Rapid recovery
It is applicable to areas close to the skin and areas like under the knee
-
No additional incision
The adhesive has the effect of closing the connection of peripheral small veins, reducing the need for varicectomy.
-
No compression stockings
Unlike conventional surgery methods, there is no need to wear medical compression stockings after surgery
Precautions after treatment
-
01
Fasting before surgery is required. It is best to drink only water. Precautions for treatment
-
02
You can take high blood pressure drugs, but do not take diabetes medication. Hypoglycemia can occ
-
03
Avoid driving and use public transportation.
-
04
Short swimming or bathing is possible, but it is recommended to do it for 2-3 weeks for no more than 20-30 minutes.
-
05
Placing your legs higher during sleeping can help you recover.
